It’s Career Day at Metropolis’ Garfield High and the Mystery Incorporated crew are on hand to offer advice.
Not all the young people are looking towards a future as useful citizens.
As it turns out, the 100’s teen division aren’t the only gang on site.
Happily, there’s also a superhero on hand.
Forget the post-Crisis updates, ignore that guy on TV, this latest digital chapter of Scooby-Doo Team-Up nods firmly towards the Seventies milieu of the original comics by Tony Isabella and Trevor Von Eeden. And as ever, writer Sholly Fisch and artist Dario Brizuela scatter delight on every page, with splendid jokes rooted as much in DC history as in the idiosyncrasies of the Mystery Inc kids.
The school background also gives Fisch a chance to lay out the educational aspirations of Daphne, Fred and co. Mind, as they say, blown.
This first of two instalments climaxes with the Mystery Inc gang preparing to join Black Lightning on the streets, motivating a gag that goes right back to the pre-history of the protector of Suicide Slum.
And of course, I won’t spoil that one! Buy this comic by Fisch, Brizuela, colourist Franco Riesco, letterer Saida Temofonte and editor Kristy Quinn and you’ll have a (Tobias) Whale of a time.
