Booster Gold has followed Superman into Krypton’s past, but it’s not the one Clark expected – there’s a spaceport when interstellar flight was banned, his father Jor-El is palling around with General Zod…. There’s no time to ponder the mysteries as the authorities sic police in battle suits on the perceived saboteurs.  Our heroes manage […]

At the Kent home in Smallville, friends have gathered to celebrate Christmas.  Clark thinks he knows why school bully turned prankster Bradley ‘Bash’ Bashford is so down that even Lana’s charms can’t turn that frown upside down.  Shockingly, the reason shows Bash to have developed depth.  Disconsolate, Bash leaves to be alone with his thoughts. […]

Beast Boy has brought his fellow Teen Titans gifts.  OK, he’s not actually of the Jewish persuasion, but hey, it’s ‘eight days of presents, dude!’ Then, wouldn’t you know it, an actual Jewish superhero turns up. Is it the Atom? Is it Batwoman? Nope, it’s a bigger star! And it turns out the 31st century […]

If you’ve not read this week’s first part of Super Sons of Tomorrow, check out my review of Superman #37. Short version – Tim Drake, the Batman of a gloomy future, has come to our time to kill new Superboy Jon Kent. Tim reckons his death will stop his hellish world coming to pass. But […]

It’s a dark night and Bruce Wayne is in the study at Wayne Manor, brooding. It looks like history is repeating itself.  In fact, it’s a matter of future history – or so Tim Drake, the Batman from a Hypertime world, believes. There follows a brutal battle between the heavily armoured Tim and a Bruce […]

The Fantastic Four are no more. Reed, Sue and the kids are off creating new worlds, while Johnny and Ben have been left behind on Earth. Johnny continues to seek thrills as a racing driver… … while Ben, who’s lately been adventuring with the Guardians of the Galaxy, is making a speech. And not a […]

I know that Mystery Inc are brilliant detectives, but who knew their reputation extended into the 31st century? They’re certainly surprised when three teenagers from the future show up.  Suitably convinced they’re dealing with future folk, Daphne, Fred, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby jump into the time bubble to investigate the apparent ghost haunting the Legion […]

It’s young Jean Grey’s last stand against the Phoenix Force but she’s not alone. By her side are the Cuckoos, Quentin Quire, Hope Summers, Emma Frost and the ghost of older Jean. It’s a formidable group with a wealth of experience and skills, but Jean knows she’s in for the fight of her young life. […]

‘Strange Visitor’ has to be one of the daftest names for a superhero ever, but I did like the melding of Sharon Vance and cosmic being Kismet when she hung around the Superman books in the Nineties. And now she’s back from oblivion, remembering her sacrifice in the Our Worlds at War storyline, but not […]

Superman has used the Cosmic Treadmill to head for Krypton in its last moments, wanting to know for definite if birth father Jor-El was saved from death by a strange force that plucked him away. If that’s so, then the monstrous Mr Oz is likely telling the truth when he claims he is Jor-El – […]
