Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #3 review

We first see Batman, Superman and Billy Batson in hell, thanks to the wicked wizard Felix Faust. Across the world, the Doom Patrol follow a lead on the tomb of The Devil Nezha, who’s behind various villains – including Faust – attacking prominent heroes. And in ancient China, Supergirl and Robin bid to learn how […]

Superman: Son of Kal-El #11 review

This issue starts soon after the close of last month’s instalment, with Jon in a Justice League safe house, reeling from Batman’s insistence that his boyfriend Jay isn’t to be trusted because he runs with a bad crowd, The Revolutionaries. Jon zooms out of the mountain chalet, leaving Batman alone. But not for long. Jon’s […]

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #2 review

After a violent encounter with Metallo’s red kryptonite cocktail, Superman is left with a life-threatening morphing condition. Happily, Negative Man of the Doom Patrol is able to use his alien energy to dampen down the Man of Steel long enough for a specialist to step in. Dr Niles Caulder, creator of the Patrol, doesn’t find […]

Superman: Son of Kal-El #10 review

While new Superman Jon Kent saves lives in Ireland… …Lex Luthor holds a press conference… …and Lois Lane throws down a golden gauntlet. Later, Jon has news for his Mom… … and a family friend drops by the suburban Kent home. From the fantastic cover by illustrator Travis Moore and colour artist Tamra Bonvillain to […]

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #1 review

It’s a few years ago, and Batman, Robin and Superman are fighting Poison Ivy and Metallo in Metropolis. Metallo gets the better of Superman for long enough to inject him with a cocktail containing a blend of red Kryptonite rocks. A few years before that, the three heroes are forging a friendship over a battle […]

Wonder Woman #781 review

A catch-up lunch date with Etta Candy is curtailed when a call from Steve Trevor summons Diana’s pal to his side. Wonder Woman asks Etta for a favour. Diana isn’t at a loss for something to do, having just learnt that longtime enemy Dr Psycho has put out a book of his poisonous thoughts. She […]

Wonder Woman #780 review

It’s a new beginning for Diana as she returns from the dead after an odyssey across other realms. Sheer force of will has brought her back to the land of the living, and she’s going to make sure everyone knows she’s ready to take up where she left off. Wonder Woman begins with a visit […]

Wonder Woman #778 review

I don’t keep up with variant covers but I can’t imagine that even the loveliest shot of Diana posing moodily would beat artist Travis Moore and colourist Tamra Bonvillain’s tremendous opening image for Wonder Woman #778. Wonder Woman in Bronze Age outfit and pals Siegfried and Ratatosk falling through a rabbit hole of multiple earths? […]

Wonder Woman #777 review

Diana’s quest to stop Janus the godslayer sees her and pals Siegfried and Ratatosk arrive back on Earth, at the Hall of Justice. Wonder Woman is relieved, confident her Justice League friends will assist them. Surprise! Miss Martian? Nope, it’s Marsha Martian of the Justice Guild of Earth 11. Well, that’s what Diana calls it. […]

Wonder Woman #776 review

Now here’s a cover that’s hard to resist. After years of Wonder Woman, warrior princess, here’s Diana, Disney princess. Mind, she’s very much a modern Daughter of Walt, standing up to bullies when she finds herself in Fairyland. It’s the latest stop in a tour of mystical realms that has so far seen Diana have […]
