Knight Terrors: Night’s End #1 review

First off, why does the core story of this DC summer event play out in so many differently titled books? We’ve had Knight Terrors: First Blood, four issues of plain ol’ Knight Terrors, and now this. It should have been simply six issues called Knight Terrors. Anyway, Insomnia, who sent pretty much the whole world […]

Knight Terrors: Action Comics #2 review

The Knight Terrors micro-series continues. Once again we have two strips with one set-up; new villain Insomnia has forced the world into a deep sleep and is searching their dreams for something called The Maguffin Stone. Hang on, sorry, it’s the Nightmare Stone. But that’s not important right now – Insomnia motivates the tales starring […]

Knight Terrors: Action Comics #1 review

DC’s summer Halloween event continues with a look at what’s happening to the rest of the Super Family while Superman and Supergirl fight the effects of new villain Insomnia’s supernatural sleeping sickness. But first – sigh – Power Girl. What’s she doing back in Action? I thought that with a new series coming up which […]

Green Arrow #3 review

It’s all go for the Green Arrow family. As Oliver Queen and Lian Harper are pinged from an alien world to Earth’s future by forces unknown and encounter Ollie’s long-lost son Conner Hawke… … Dinah Lance and Roy Harper have broken into Belle Reve prison in an attempt to find out who’s determined to stop […]

Green Lantern #2 review

Back on Earth after years as a sky-rider of the spaceways, Green Lantern Hal Jordan is trying to rebuild his life on Earth. First and foremost, that means he needs a paying job. He’s sold toys, he’s pushed insurance, even driven a truck, but flying is where Hal’s heart is. And so he’s back at […]

Green Lantern #1 review

A lot has happened since last time Hal Jordan was an Earth-based Green Lantern. After the disappearance of the Guardians of the Universe, new galactic government the United Planets have taken over the Green Lantern Corps. They’ve declared Sector 2814 a liability and reassigned Earth’s Lanterns. Hal isn’t happy, and has quit in protest. We […]

Green Arrow #1 review

Missing from the DC Universe since the exaggerated death of the Justice League, Green Arrow is back in the spotlight. He’s not on Earth, though. He’s somehow wound up on a sci-fi version of the island on which, long ago, a shipwrecked Oliver Queen learnt to use a bow and arrow. And his dialogue reveals […]

Lazarus Planet: Legends Reborn #1 review

Legends reborn! That sounds exciting. And indeed it is thrilling for this old Firestorm fan as the Nuclear Man is thrust back into the DC spotlight. As for the other characters who get solo strips, I don’t keep up with Renee Montoya, but I guess this is the first time she’s returned to the role […]

Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods #1 review

It’s raining magic, hallelujah! And that means changes not just for the heroes and villains of the DC Universe, but for gods and monsters too. Remember the Trench from Aquaman, the big-fanged fish fellas who eat everything in their path? The Lazarus rain gives them a makeover in a nice-looking short written and drawn by […]

Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 review

Loads of heroes fight loads of villains. The darkness inside Pariah jumps from Deathstroke to Nightwing. Black Adam shares his power to enable the heroes to resist corruption by Pariah’s darkness The newly amped Dr Light and the Flashes do… something. And the new multiverse of multiverses stands. In the aftermath, the back-from-the-not-quite-dead Justice League […]
